Jubilee 2025
Pope Francis’ message for the 2025 Jubilee Year highlights the theme of hope, drawing from Romans 5:5: "Hope does not disappoint." He emphasizes the importance of encountering Christ personally, fostering spiritual renewal, and living as witnesses of hope. Amid global challenges, the Jubilee calls for a commitment to evangelization, patience, and acts of mercy, reflecting Christian love and unity. This year is intended as a time of deep faith and shared joy, renewing the Church's mission in the world.
In the Archdiocese of Atlanta, Archbishop Hartmayer has designated these churches to be pilgrimage sites:
- Mary Our Queen Catholic Church in Peachtree Corners, Main Pilgrimage Site
- Church of the Purification of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Sharon
- Saint Matthew Catholic Church in Tyrone
- Our Lady of the Mountains in Jasper
- Saint Paul the Apostle in Cleveland
- Saint Brendan the Navigator in Cumming
These pilgrimage sites will be open from the Feast of the Presentation of the Lord Sunday February 2, 2025, to the Solemnity of the Epiphany of the Lord on Tuesday January 6, 2026. Even though there are not “Holy Doors” at these sites there will be “Pilgrim Doors”, so all pilgrims are invited to enter through them.
Plan Your Pilgrimage During the Jubilee Year
Individuals, families, and small groups are invited to embark on a spiritual pilgrimage to designated sites throughout the Jubilee Year. By doing so, they may receive a plenary indulgence—the complete remission of temporal punishment due to sin—by fulfilling the usual conditions established by the Catholic Church:
Requirements to Receive a Plenary Indulgence:
- Visit one of the designated pilgrimage sites
- Perform an act of mercy or penance
- Make a sacramental confession before visiting the site
- Receive Holy Communion, either at the pilgrimage site or at your parish (before or after the visit)
- Pray for the intentions of Pope Francis at the pilgrimage site
Please Note:
- Confessions will not be available at the pilgrimage sites, as there is only one priest assigned. All pilgrims are strongly encouraged to go to confession before making their pilgrimage.
- Large groups should be accompanied by a priest or deacon.
- If a group would like to arrange a private Mass (in a different language or outside the scheduled times), please contact the site in advance to make arrangements.
- If you plan to visit outside regular hours, please coordinate with the pilgrimage site ahead of time to ensure they can welcome you.
The Jubilee Prayer
Father in heaven, may the faith you have given us in your son, Jesus Christ, our brother, and the flame of charity enkindled in our hearts by the Holy Spirit, reawaken in us the blessed hope for the coming of your Kingdom.
May your grace transform us into tireless cultivators of the seeds of the Gospel. May those seeds transform from within both humanity and the whole cosmos in the sure expectation of a new heaven and a new earth, when, with the powers of Evil vanquished, your glory will shine eternally.
May the grace of the Jubilee reawaken in us, Pilgrims of Hope, a yearning for the treasures of heaven. May that same grace spread the joy and peace of our Redeemer throughout the earth. To you our God, eternally blessed, be glory and praise for ever. Amen.
