On June 17, 2024, we celebrate the 50th anniversary of the establishment of St. Lawrence parish. It is a celebration that must fill us with joy and gratitude. It is also an opportunity for us to be grateful for those men and women, along with the clergy, who have worked hard to build this parish so far. Through their faith and selfless sacrifices, they remind us that indeed God’s work on earth must always be our own. It was for us that they made these sacrifices. Inspired by their example and motivated by the Gospel, we too must build for those who will come after us.

St. Lawrence has over 4,500 registered families and Gwinnett is one of the fastest growing counties in the state. This growth necessitates planning and preparation.

With the Archbishop’s permission, we established a Site Development Committee which worked in conjunction with Smith Boland Architects to design a site plan. This plan, which is designed in anticipation of the current and future needs of the parish, was shared with you awhile back.

This plan contains a four-phase expansion project which includes:

1. A new Adoration Chapel

2. A new Rectory

3. A new Gym

4. Reconfiguration of current gym into parish hall and additional meeting rooms.

The projected cost of the entire project is $10 million. Since we paid off our entire parish debt, we have been able to save about $1 million. Therefore, with the recommendation of the building committee, we intend to run a 5-year capital campaign (2024 – 2029) to raise $9 million.

We expect and hope that every family in the parish will participate in this effort.
