
THE COMMUNITY LIFE COMMISSION is a panel of parishioners who facilitate communication and dialogue among the numerous ministries and organizations operating within the life of the parish. Commissioners cooperate with the leadership of the existing ministries to identify social and ministerial needs, and to ensure orderly transitions in leadership. This group works to affirm the work of all volunteers in parish life.
SMALL CHRISTIAN COMMUNITIES are the groups of 10-12 parishioners who gather biweekly for a study of the Sunday scriptures, some sharing of life experiences, and the kind of friendship and caring that bring the Church alive in a smaller setting. New communities are formed each year in January.
THE WELCOMING COMMITTEE greets and assists new parishioners after Sunday mass each weekend, and organizes newcomers’ socials and the annual parish picnic.
LADIES OF ST. LAWRENCE , includes all women of the parish. Its purpose is to bring women together to develop Christian friendships through social activities, and parish and community outreach.
THE MEN’S CLUB sponsors dances, men’s softball teams and the St. Lawrence Golf Assn., and performs services to the parish as the need arises.
SENIOR ADULT MINISTRY (SAM) is a social group of those who are comfortable with, and like to socialize with people over the age of 55. Activities include luncheons, speakers, days of prayer, afternoons at the theatre and day trips to various places of interest. The group meets on the 3rd Wednesday of each month.
THE KNIGHTS OF COLUMBUS is an order of Catholic men dedicated to the ideas of charity, unity, fraternity and patriotism. Membership is available to Catholic men 18 years or older.
MARRIAGE ENCOUNTER is a weekend enrichment experience for couples with good marriages. Sessions are held monthly at local hotels. Couples who have experienced a Marriage Encounter meet monthly in the WEDS group.
CURSILLO is a short course in Christianity that offers a vision and experience of human love, charity and genuine friendship centered on the Eucharist. The spirit of the weekend is intended to be relived in small group reunions and ULTREYA, the monthly gathering of all Cursillistas.
ANNULMENT CASE SPONSORS are parishioners who have experienced the Church annulment process who volunteer to help lead others through the process. Annulment case sponsors are trained by the Archdiocese of Atlanta, and provide compassionate and informed guidance for those who seek their rights under Church marriage law.
MOMMY AND ME focuses on the challenges of motherhood and marriage, the desire for friendship, and the provision of spiritual growth through Christian fellowship.
WOMAN TO WOMAN meets on Tuesday mornings during the school year for prayer, fellowship, discussion and fun.
The VOCATIONS COMMITTEE helps bring Vocations Awareness Week to life each year at St. Lawrence, and prays regularly for those called to priesthood, brotherhood, sisterhood or the permanent diaconate.
DESALES COMPANIONS meet bi-monthly to study St. Francis De Sales’ classic spiritual work, “Introduction to the Devout Life.”
WELLNESS MINISTRY allows parishioners in the healthcare professions to share their expertise in promoting physical, emotional, social, intellectual, occupational and spiritual wellness.
LAZARUS MINISTRY members are available to help bereaved parishioners plan funerals, and provide food and hospitality to mourners whenever possible.
HELPING HANDS volunteers prepare meals for parishioners and neighbors in times of need, assist with transportation to mass or medical appointments, or help with parish office work. All talents are welcome!
DIVORCE CARE support group has a comprehensive 13-week program of short videos and discussion on all aspects of the divorce and divorce recovery process.
RAINBOWS is a support group for children who have either lost a parent through death or whose parents have separated or divorced. The 6-week program is offered at various times during the year.
CHARISMATIC PRAYER GROUP gathers weekly to praise the Lord as the Holy Spirit moves them. All are welcome.
CANCER SUPPORT GROUP invites you to come and share your story and gain strength and support from others who have taken the same journey. All are welcome, whether you are currently in treatment or not.
THE BEREAVEMENT GROUP offers 8-week workshops in the fall and spring, and meets on the 3rd Thursday of each month at 1:30 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. to support those who have experienced death or loss.
health care ministry encourages parishioners to aim for wellness in each dimension: physical, emotional, social, intellectual, occupational and spiritual. Our God is the one who initiates all caring. Caring then, is not so much something good Christians should do. Rather it is a natural response to God's gracious caring.
aids ministry provides a variety of forms of assistance to the HIV/AIDS community in Atlanta and Gwinnett county by its support of The Living Room, an organization that helps those with HIV/AIDS to find stable, affordable and appropriate housing and Aid Gwinnett which provides many social services. Parish groups have prepared "Welcome Baskets" of household items and various toiletries as well as making monetary donations.
