We at St. Lawrence are committed to on-going growth and conversion on the life long journey of faith. Whether it is for children or adults; for those born and raised Catholic or those seeking Baptism, the goal of all faith formation is communion and intimacy with Jesus Christ.
Life long formation is essential since growth in faith is related to human development and passes through stages. Adult faith formation is the principal form because it is adults who are most capable of a free and informed response to God’s call to a loving relationship. Formation of other age groups (Parish School of Religion) revolves around the axis of adult formation.
The Christian Initiation (catechumenal) model of on-going conversion is the source of inspiration for all faith formation since it offers the faithful a chance to journey with Christ through the stages of his Paschal Mystery.
The specific tasks of formation are to introduce disciples of all ages to knowledge of Tradition and of Scripture; to have a full, conscious and active participation in the liturgy; live a life in conformity with Gospel values and to assume an attitude of prayer and contemplation.
This formation is the responsibility of the whole community not just the priests, deacons, and catechists. Parents, in particular, by their witness within the home, are the primary faith educators of their children.
The parish of St. Lawrence warmly invites you to deepen your relationship with God through participation in our faith formation programs. Click on the appropriate link for more details.
